Press release from Karen Birck:
The Wilton Encore Club recently presented a check in the amount of $3000 to the Wilton Department of Social Services. "The funds will be used to help Wilton families meet basic needs such as housing, heating, utilities and food", said Cathy Pierce, the Director of Wilton Social Services. The monies were raised from the Encore Club's only fundraiser which this year was a luncheon on October 18 featuring a fashion show by Coldwater Creek, door prizes donated by local businessses and a silent auction of gift baskets created by club members and the club's activity groups. The Encore Club is a non-profit social and philanthropic club. The club offers many different activities, usually on a monthly basis, including a book discussion group, a bridge group, monthly coffees for members and guests, Chick Flick (dinner and a movie), visits to the studios of local artists and monthly luncheons. For more information about the Wilton Encore Club visit www.wiltonencore.org or call membership chair Joan Izzi at 834-2563.
